Accessibility Statement
Effective Date: July 14, 2026
Switchback is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually working to improve the experience for everyone and to apply the relevant accessibility standards across the Switchback website and mobile app.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A (the minimum), Level AA (which addresses the most common and significant barriers), and Level AAA (the highest). Most organizations aim for Level AA.
Switchback is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to close those gaps. The known exceptions are described under Known Limitations below.
Measures We Take
Accessibility is part of how we build and maintain Switchback, not an afterthought. To support it across the Service, we:
- Build our pages with clean, standards-based markup so the structure of each page is clear to assistive technology
- Test our site using a combination of automated tools and manual review
- Check color contrast so that text is readable, aiming for the WCAG Level AA targets (a 4.5:1 ratio for normal text and 3:1 for large text)
- Support keyboard navigation for interactive elements, including the workout logging and program controls
- Use descriptive page structure and landmarks so that people can find and move between sections of a page
Compatibility
Switchback is designed to work with the assistive technologies that people commonly rely on, including:
- Screen readers
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
This reflects how we design and build the product. Because assistive technologies and browsers vary widely, we cannot guarantee that every feature behaves identically in every combination, and we welcome reports of any difficulties.
Technical Specifications
Accessibility of Switchback relies on the following technologies: HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS, and JavaScript. These are used to work with the browser and any assistive technologies installed on your device.
Known Limitations
We want to be honest about where Switchback does not yet fully conform. We are working to address the following:
- Third-party interface components: Some interface components provided by third parties may have accessibility limitations that are outside our direct control. Where this affects you, we will do our best to help and to find a workaround.
- The Garmin watch app: The on-watch experience runs on Garmin hardware, which provides its own display, buttons, and platform. The accessibility of that experience depends in part on your device and Garmin's software, which are outside our full control.
- Dynamic content: Some content that updates in place, such as workout status and history updates, may require people using assistive technology to move to the updated area to hear the change. We are working to make these updates announce themselves more reliably.
